I am starting a new Series of Montessori Focus. The purpose is to share my experience in the Montessori classroom from 3-5. Every Montessori classroom has beautiful and attractive materials to engage children and I would like to share with you my "spin" on Montessori lessons and hope my experience will be helpful to you.
These coloring pages are purposefully designed with only minimum illustrations. This activity can be a great way to build communication between adult and child. The pictures have visual prompts for child to create and release his or her imagination and creative thinking. Some explanation and guidance from an adult is required.

I would like to share with you my ultimate collection of sensory experiences I have gathered during these couple of years.
First is the set of sound activities for infants and babies to develop hearing, grip and hand coordination. When my child was only little I used to make various rattles for her using different fillers and bottles, like you can see on the pictures below. I used my bagels to make fun rattle which she just loved to play with. I also collected various types of rattles - soft, metal, wooden, plastic, loud, gentle to assist her in developing understanding of different textures and develop sense of touch and hearing. Russian traditional rattle Nevalyashka is a perfect toy for babies who being to sit up on their own.
Montessori Easter Around the World Printable Flashcards contain six sets of cards with photos representing different Easter traditions of Australia/Oceania, South America, North America, Europe, Africa and Asia with short commentary.

Idea for these Art Appreciation Printables For Painting came to me when I had a desire to create art experiences for my two year old child. I wanted her to be able to visualize pictures before creating something with a paint brush, since she is still very young. I also made similar materials for children in the preschool classroom and they quite enjoyed painting on top of the pictures of the most famous artist of the world.
"The child is by nature a worker, and when, by working in this special fashion, which is according
to his nature, he can accomplish a great deal of work without ever feeling fatigue. When he works
in this way he shows himself to be happy and by working in this way he also becomes cured of
certain psychic anomalies that he had, and by curing himself of these he enters into a more natural
form of life." (Maria Montessori, 'Child’s Instinct to Work')

"We then found that individual activity is the one factor that stimulates and produces development"
-Maria Montessori (The Absorbent Mind, p. 7)
Usually I introduce new jobs/ activities to my 2 year old toddler one at a time, so she has enough time to get familiar with it and practice new skills. I also try to replace activities she has not touched for a while with the new ones. However, honestly speaking at this age she does not spend much time doing her shelf activities during the day. She is much more interested in following me around the house and participating in what we call Practical Life activities - basically doing chores. In my coming up post I will share the list of chores that she shows great interest in. I follow her interests the best I can to provide her with necessary equipment and teach her skills to perform them. For now, I introduce you to our new activities from this week:
