Idea for these Art Appreciation Printables For Painting came to me when I had a desire to create art experiences for my two year old child. I wanted her to be able to visualize pictures before creating something with a paint brush, since she is still very young. I also made similar materials for children in the preschool classroom and they quite enjoyed painting on top of the pictures of the most famous artist of the world.
"The child is by nature a worker, and when, by working in this special fashion, which is according
to his nature, he can accomplish a great deal of work without ever feeling fatigue. When he works
in this way he shows himself to be happy and by working in this way he also becomes cured of
certain psychic anomalies that he had, and by curing himself of these he enters into a more natural
form of life." (Maria Montessori, 'Child’s Instinct to Work')

-Maria Montessori (The Absorbent Mind, p. 7)
Usually I introduce new jobs/ activities to my 2 year old toddler one at a time, so she has enough time to get familiar with it and practice new skills. I also try to replace activities she has not touched for a while with the new ones. However, honestly speaking at this age she does not spend much time doing her shelf activities during the day. She is much more interested in following me around the house and participating in what we call Practical Life activities - basically doing chores. In my coming up post I will share the list of chores that she shows great interest in. I follow her interests the best I can to provide her with necessary equipment and teach her skills to perform them. For now, I introduce you to our new activities from this week:

Sometimes terms like "positive discipline" and "peaceful parenting" can be interpreted in way that confuses many parents, leaving them believe that creating proper boundaries, rules and discipline is damaging for their child's development. I am a very strong believer that every child needs boundaries and discipline in their life. In fact, according to the studies "Children whose parents are warm and responsive yet also set limits and have reasonable expectations for their children tend to have better outcomes than their peers whose parents show less warmth and responsiveness, have low expectations, or both".
“… the first thing his education demands is the provision of an environment in which he can develop the powers given him by nature. This does not mean just to amuse him and let him do what he likes. But it does mean that we have to adjust our minds to doing a work of collaboration with nature, to being obedient to one of her laws, the law which decrees that development comes from environmental experience.” (The Absorbent Mind, Chapter 8, p. 89)
TOP SEVEN REASONS WHY I AM PRO-LIFE
Dr. Scott Lively is a man of great authority for me. I had a privilege to meet him personally and I truly admire his passion and unending dedication. He keeps fighting while majority give up or lay down their beliefs under strong pressure of media, government and society. Despite constant life threats and opposition he holds on strong to what keeps us as a society alive - strong family values. To read more about him, please, visit his website. Defend the Family.
Dr. Scott Lively, am Pro-Life…
